MTN, OUT WITH ANOTHER CHANCE TO ‘‘MAKE THINGS HAPPEN’’

The grand official unveiling that announced the new birth  of the MTN APP DEVELOPER CHALLENGE, held at the imposing Southern Sun Hotel on 47 Alfred Rewane Road,Ikoyi, Lagos on the late morning of Wednesday, 24th July 2013 could as well depict as a moment of superlative display of a global brand by her subjects
Or how well can one portray a situation, where for example the ever smiling General Manager, Consumer Marketing of MTN, Mr. Kola Oyeyemi took the microphone and before starting b his welcome posited: ‘’ If there is one brand that love to give back to its consumers and to the general public; this is the brand; if there is one brand that leads and others follow it, MTN is the brand’’
Well, he may not be far from truth, considering the whopping /mouth watering prizes that MTN is giving out in her new APP DEVELOPER CHALLENGE competition

The event, billed to roll off by 11 am did not commence till about 45 minutes later, and very unconventional of the organizers, it was session of breakfast/lunch buffet that started the event, before the main action of the day
Just exactly an hour and half after the expected time event, the master of ceremony mounted the stage, stated why everyone was gathered and there and then called Mr. Kola Oyeyemi,GM Consumer marketing made a very formal official welcome, stressing that MTN is most delighted to have everyone in the house for yet another milestone launching of new challenge and as an organization that pride itself as a brand as one that  often break new ground in the digital world, the new MTN APP DEVELOPER CHALLENGE is one that will no doubt change the lives of many people in several ways than one

He posited that at the end of the day, the effort of MTN APPDEVELOPER CHALLENGE will no doubt be talked about and the memory of the competition will definitely linger on, for a very long time to come
Stressed he: ‘’It is a pleasure to let you know that this completion starts from today, July 24th – October 24th 2013, a three months phase that will see live changing for the would be lucky winner and the vast number of participants’’
He went on to describe the various category that participant must create an app that everyone loves and they could win exciting prizes

CRITERIA
Mr. Oyeyemi was categorical: ‘’ we will not compromise on our brand high standard criterion, we will only accept originality of concept and the relevance of such concept.’’


As regards top prizes for the would be winners, Oyeyemi described it as nothing but life changing. He may not be far from truth… or what do you expect when overall winner goes home with a brand new Hyundai IX 35 plus a whopping 1 million NAIRA and a Samsung GALAXY S4?
It is such princely sum that all, the rest winner will enjoy including the SAMSUNG GALAXY S4, what will separate them from the overall winner is just the eye popping Hyundai IX 35

Having finished his consumer marketing brief, the day’s compeer called on MRS Omotayo George, the strong lady of MTN to talk more on the MTN APP DEVELOPER CHALLENGE
Described it as yet another big break for students, undergraduate and the general public to  change the story of their live via creativity, Mrs. George revealed that the final decision of who wins and who don’t will not rest on MTN, rather some credible judges have been chosen to  act on the panel to decide the winners. They include: Chike Nwobi, Emmanuel Oluwosire, Akin Braithwait and Stanly Noneke

AT the end of the briefing, several questions were asked by guest of the day and several MTN officials where available for ready answer. It was indeed of merriment as three top prizes where won by celebrities and media advocates. JOKES where cracked to high heaven by the, MC and network was endless-most typical of MTN brand event
